Option 1: share a PDF through a public link
- Upload your PDF to a cloud service you already use, such as Google Drive or OneDrive.
- Set link-sharing permissions so your intended audience can open the file. Test the link in a private browsing window.
- Open QR Studio, choose File, and select the public file-link option. Paste the link.
- Customize the QR code and download PNG, SVG or PDF. Scan the resulting code before publishing it.
Option 2: upload a PDF to QR Studio
- Choose File and the upload option. Select a PDF that is no larger than 5 MiB.
- Complete the upload verification, then choose View Online or View & Download where available.
- Create the QR code, download it, and keep the private deletion receipt if you want early removal.
Important things to know
Files hosted by QR Studio are available for up to 30 days; the uploaded copy and access expire after that. Use your own long-lived public PDF link for permanent posters or printed materials.
A QR code is not an access-control system. Anyone with the code can open a publicly accessible file. Avoid uploading confidential material.
The QR pattern does not inherently expire, but the PDF location, sharing permission, or host can change.
Frequently asked questions
Will my QR code stop working after 30 days?
Only QR Studio-hosted temporary files have that 30-day storage limit. QR codes linking to your own public PDF URL continue working as long as the destination remains available.
Can people view the PDF without downloading it?
Supported PDFs can open in QR Studio’s viewer when you select View Online. This does not prevent copying, screenshots or downloads through other means.
What size PDF can I upload?
Up to 5 MiB for QR Studio temporary hosting. Larger PDFs can be shared using a public cloud link.
